How do I remove domains and/or subdomains from my web hosting account?

Please note that all DNS records and settings for the domain name will be deleted when the domain is deleted. If you want to save the zone file for the domain before deletion, you can do so according to the instructions here.

If the domain you wish to remove from the web hosting account is the main domain, the main domain of the service must first be changed. For more information on changing the main domain, see this guide.

Sometimes you want to remove a domain or a subdomain from a web hosting account, for example if you no longer want to use the domain or if you want to connect it to another service. This guide describes how to delete a domain name from a web hosting account.

If you created email accounts that use the domain name on your web hosting account, these will stop working when the domain name is deleted from the service.

To delete a domain or subdomain, do the following:

1. Begin by logging on to cPanel.
2. Click Domains under Domains.
   
3. Click the Manage button to the right of the domain you wish to remove from the web hosting account.
4. Scroll down the page and click the Remove Domain button.
   

Note that the files in the domain’s document root will not be deleted when the domain is removed. You must delete them manually if you do not want them to remain on the account. This can be done via cPanel’s File Manager or via SSH.

5. Confirm that you want to delete the domain by clicking on the Yes, remove this domain button that appears.
   
6. The domain will now be deleted from your web hosting account and you will see a confirmation box once the process is complete.
