IPv4
Classic IP addresses are called IPv4 and are in the format X.X.X.X (where X is a number between 1 and 255). All servers have IPv4 addresses and here we describe the ways you can find the address, for instance if you need to point a domain using external DNS servers to our server.
Via cPanel
You can find the IP address (the IP number) for your web hosting account under cPanel.
- Begin by logging on to cPanel.
- Now look at the right part of the screen, under the section General Information. There you’ll find Shared IP Address. This is the IP address that is being used by your web hosting account.
Via the Client Area
- To see the IP address for your service via the Client Area, begin by logging on to the Client Area.
- Click
Shared Hosting
underServices
in the menu to the left. - Click
View
to the right of your web hosting account. - You will now find the IP address under
Hosting information
a bit down on the page.
IPv6
The new standard for IP addresses, IPv6, offers a huge range of IP addresses compared to the older IPv4 standard. Here we describe how to find the address that is assigned to your web hosting account:
- Begin by logging on to cPanel.
- Click
Zone Editor
underDomains
. - Now, click
Manage
to the right of one of the domains on the account. - In the search box at the top, search for ipv6. You should then find a AAAA pointer where you will see the IPv6 address that applies to your account.
