In this guide, we will go through how our systems work together and how you can get started with a web hosting account with us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We have two different control panels that you need to know: <strong>The Client Area<\/strong> (your client account with us) and <strong>cPanel<\/strong>. We have written <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/en\/artikel\/whats-the-difference-between-the-client-area-and-cpanel\/\">the following article<\/a> about what distinguishes them, but in short, the Client Area is where you manage matters relating to your details as a client with us (orders, invoices, contact details, etc.), and cPanel is the hub for the web hosting account itself (where you set up websites, email accounts, databases, etc.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-alert\">You can have several web hosting accounts under one client account, but not vice versa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Client Area \u2013 your client account<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-style-default\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/client_area-scaled.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"628\" src=\"https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/client_area-1024x628.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-25362\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/client_area-1024x628.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/client_area-300x184.png 300w, https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/client_area-767x470.png 767w, https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/client_area-50x31.png 50w, https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/client_area-1536x942.png 1536w, https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/client_area-60x37.png 60w, https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/client_area-2048x1255.png 2048w, https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/client_area-100x61.png 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-info\">To log in to the Client Area, use the email address specified on the client account. More instructions regarding logging in can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/en\/artikel\/how-can-i-login-to-the-client-area\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Within the Client Area, you will mostly manage matters relating to your client account with us. Common tasks performed while logged in include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/en\/artikel\/how-do-i-edit-my-contact-information\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Updating contact details<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 if you move or if the company changes its contact person, this can be updated.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/en\/artikel\/how-do-i-pay-an-invoice-via-credit-card-or-swish\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Paying invoices<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 we offer support for payments via debit\/credit card, PayPal, Swish, and bank transfer. You can use all online payment solutions via the Client Area.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/en\/artikel\/how-do-i-download-a-copy-of-an-invoice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Downloading invoice copies<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 if you have lost an invoice and your accountant is chasing you, you can resolve this via the Client Area.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/en\/artikel\/how-do-i-add-additional-contacts-to-my-client-account\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Setting up additional contacts (for example billing contacts)<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 if your company has a billing department or uses a central bank transfer service or similar, you can create a billing contact for this. If you have someone who is technically responsible, you can create a technical contact with login capabilities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/en\/artikel\/how-do-i-login-to-cpanel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Logging in to cPanel for web hosting accounts<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 the easiest way to log in to cPanel is via the Client Area, although there are other ways in as well.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/en\/artikel\/how-do-i-upgrade-downgrade-my-web-hosting-account\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Upgrading services<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 sometimes your current service is not enough and you need to upgrade for more space or better performance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/en\/artikel\/how-do-i-upgrade-downgrade-my-web-hosting-account\/#downgrade\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Downgrading services<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 it can also be the other way around, where you need less space or less performance; in that case, you can downgrade your service instead.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/en\/artikel\/how-do-i-cancel-my-services-and-domains\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cancelling services and domains<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 if you have a web hosting account from before that you no longer need, you can cancel it according to the instructions here.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Client Area also contains the registrar functions needed to manage certain parts of the domain names purchased through us:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/en\/artikel\/how-do-i-change-the-nameservers-that-my-domain-is-using\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Choosing DNS servers for domains<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 choose ours if you want to be able to manage DNS entries via cPanel (see below).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/en\/artikel\/how-do-i-change-whois-information-for-my-domains\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Changing domain ownership details (Whois details)<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 if you wish to transfer a domain, in many cases, you will need to update the Whois information.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/en\/artikel\/where-can-i-find-an-epp-code-for-my-domain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Retrieving EPP codes for domain transfers<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 to move domains to other registrars, you need an EPP or AUTH code; here is where you do it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">cPanel \u2013 your web hosting account<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-style-default\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/cpanel-2-scaled.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"598\" src=\"https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/cpanel-2-1024x598.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-25364\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/cpanel-2-1024x598.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/cpanel-2-768x448.png 768w, https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/cpanel-2-300x175.png 300w, https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/cpanel-2-50x29.png 50w, https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/cpanel-2-1536x897.png 1536w, https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/cpanel-2-2048x1195.png 2048w, https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/cpanel-2-60x35.png 60w, https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/cpanel-2-100x58-1.png 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-info\">To log in to cPanel, you can follow any of the methods described in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/en\/artikel\/how-do-i-login-to-cpanel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this guide<\/a>. The absolute easiest way is to go via the Client Area (the option described first in the linked guide).<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">cPanel, on the other hand, is the control panel that constitutes and manages the web hosting account itself. Here, you control everything relating to the web hosting account as such, for example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/en\/artikel\/how-do-i-create-an-email-account\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Creating email accounts<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 you can have an unlimited number of email accounts per web hosting account! Once email accounts have been created, you can set them up in email clients (or access them via our webmail).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/en\/artikel\/how-do-i-forward-email\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Creating email forwarders<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 the number of forwarders you can set up is also unlimited.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/en\/artikel\/how-do-i-create-or-edit-a-dns-record-for-my-domain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Managing DNS entries for domains set up on the account<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 DNS entries control where the domain points, both regarding web traffic and email.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/en\/artikel\/how-do-i-add-more-domains-and-or-subdomains-to-my-web-hosting-account\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Adding more domain names to the account<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 you can connect as many domains as you like to a single web hosting account; just keep in mind that the domains and the web hosting account must have the same owner.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/en\/artikel\/how-do-i-add-more-domains-and-or-subdomains-to-my-web-hosting-account\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Creating subdomains for domains on the account<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 you can create an unlimited number of subdomains for each domain.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/en\/artikel\/how-do-i-install-wordpress\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Installing a CMS (for example, WordPress) on the account<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 our one-click installer Softaculous, described in the guide, offers over 400 different CMSs and other web apps that can be installed as needed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/en\/artikel\/how-do-i-use-the-file-manager-in-cpanel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Managing folders\/files<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 you do not have to use FTP to access the files on the account.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/en\/artikel\/how-does-autossl-work\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Managing SSL certificates for domains\/websites on the account<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 you want HTTPS on all your websites, and with free certificates from Let&#8217;s Encrypt, it is fast and automatic.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oderland.se\/support\/en\/artikel\/how-do-i-create-databases-via-cpanel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Creating databases<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 many website systems require databases, and you can arrange that without any problems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are a very large number of other functions within cPanel.
