The console is a way to access your server in Oderland Cloud<\/a> if you can’t access it through normal routes such as SSH or RDP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is not intended to administer your server via the console, but if, for example, the server does not want to start normally, it can be a good tool to use in troubleshooting (for example, to select an alternative kernel at startup).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accessing the console<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To access the console on a server in the Oderland Cloud, do the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note that on a Linux server, you cannot log in via the console unless you manually set a password for the user you wish to log in as.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Begin by logging on to the Oderland Cloud control panel<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. When you\u2019ve logged in, go to Compute<\/code> (the cube-like icon) -> Virtual machines<\/code> in the menu to the left.

  3. Click on the row of the server for which you want to open the console, and then click the Console<\/code> button.

  4. The console will now open in a new window.

    If you only see a black box when you enter the console, it may be because a “screensaver” is active. Click anywhere in the black box and press any key on your keyboard and the screensaver should be deactivated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Please note that cut and paste does not work in the console, so it is not suitable for more advanced work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Keyboard layout in Linux<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    If your server runs Linux (for instance Ubuntu), the keyboard layout may be set to American English. If you use a Swedish keyboard, the following table may be helpful to find certain special characters:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
