How do I add more domains to my hosting account?

Den här artikeln finns även på: Svenska

To be able to use a domain name with your hosting account you first need to add it to the account. You have two options for adding the domain name, Addon domains and Alias, we recommend you use Addon Domains.

Please note that you need to own the domain name, it will not be enough just to add it as an Addon domain via cPanel. If the domain is not already registered, you may do so via our website.

If you are going to use the letters ÅÄÖ in your domain name you first need to convert it to the IDN-format and then you can add that to your account.

Addon Domains

Using Addon Domains is the preferred option when adding domain names to your hosting account.

  1. Login to your cPanel account.
  2.  Click on Addon Domains.
  3. Under Create an Addon Domain you need to fill out the required information.
    • New Domain Name: Type your domain name without http and www.
    • Subdomain: This field doesn’t matter to you as the end user, it’s something that cPanel uses internally. We recommend you put the domain name here,
that way it will always be unique.
    • Document Root: Here you choose in which directory on the server the files for the website will be located. You can choose freely which directory you want, if the directory doesn’t exist it will be created. You can also change this option later if you need to.
  4. Click on Add Domain to finish.

This method is only recommended if you have a FreeDNS-account, if you have a web hosting account you should use Addon Domains instead.

  1. Login to your cPanel account.
  2. Click on Aliases.
  3. Under Create a New Alias type in the domain name.
  4. Click on Add Domain to finish.
