There are several reasons as to why you’d want to use multiple IP addresses on one server; it may be of SEO reasons, a wish to run different websites/services on different IP addresses and so on. This guide will show you how to add extra IP addresses to an existing server.

Accessing the control panel

  1. Begin by logging on to the DIY control panel.
  2. After logging in, click Virtual Servers under Appliances in the menu to the left.
Klicka på Virtual Servers i menyn
  3. Click on the name of the server you wish to add IP addresses to (under Label).
    Välj rätt server
You’ll now be able to add IP addresses on the selected server.

Adding a network interface

If you want to add an IP address that belongs to another C class than that of an IP address already assigned to the server, or if you want an IPv6 address, you’ll need to add a network interface according to these instructions. If not, please go to the subsection about adding an IP address directly.

  1. After accessing the control panel page for the server according to the instructions above, hover your mouse cursor over Networking in the top menu and click Network Interfaces in the menu that pops up.
    Networking och sedan Network Interfaces
  2. Click New Network Interface towards the lower right.
    Tryck på New Network Interface
  3. Make your selections for the new interface.
    Gör inställningar för nya interfacet
    The different options indicate:

Label: A friendly name for the new interface, by which you can identify it in the control panel. In this example we name it eth1.

Physical network: Here you select which network the interface shall be connected via. Practically, you choose if you wish to add an IPv4 or and IPv6 address. If you opt in for an IPv4 address, you get to select the C class for it.

Port speed: Network speed for the new interface. If you tick the box below this option, the network speed will be unlimited.

Once you’re satisfied with your choices, clickSubmit towards the bottom right.
  4. You will now be noticed (on top of the page) that the network interface is being added.
