How do I add additional disks to a server in Oderland Cloud?

Adding a new disk to a server in Oderland Cloud will increase the cost of the server. On this page you can see the prices for disk space.

There can be various reasons for adding an additional disk to your server in Oderland Cloud. For example if you temporarily need more disk space on your server, a solution is to add a new disk or if you simply want to structure your server. This guide shows you how to add a new disk to an existing server.

  1. Begin by logging on to the Oderland Cloud control panel.
  2. When you’ve logged in, go to Compute (the cube-like icon) -> Virtual machines in the menu to the left.
  3. Then click on the row for the server you want to add a disk to. Then click the pencil icon to the right of Volumes. You may have to scroll down a bit to find the Volumes row.
  4. In the popup, click on the + Add button at the top right.
  5. You can now adjust the settings for the new disk.

    Make the settings as follows:

Name: Enter a name for the disk/volume you are creating. This name is used to distinguish different disks/volumes in Oderland Cloud.
Size (GiB): Enter the size of the disk you want to create.
Storage policy: Leave this on the default.

Click Create when you are done.
  6. If you want to add more disks, repeat steps 4 and 5 above. When you are done, click Done at the bottom.

After following the instructions above, the new disk will be connected to the server.

You now need to handle the new disk in the same way as if you mounted a new hard drive in a physical server, i.e. partition, format and mount it yourself. Instructions on how to do this are not covered in this guide, as the procedure differs between different server setups (depending on the operating system, previous disk setups, etc).
